TCCS Volunteers – BC Family Day Special Event

On BC Family Day, a holiday filled with family warmth, the TCCS volunteer team visited a local nursing home as scheduled to put on a heartwarming and artistic performance, bringing holiday greetings and care to the elderly residents.

Despite the long weekend and summer vacation period, when many people are away on vacation, the program remained rich and diverse, featuring piano solos, singing, violin performances, erhu performances, clarinet ensembles, elegant dances, nostalgic harmonica performances, and a band ensemble of traditional Chinese instruments. From classic melodies to Beibei-style ensemble performances, from elegant solos to group collaborations, every program reflected the volunteers’ meticulous preparation and sincere intentions.

When familiar melodies play, many seniors can’t help but hum along, their eyes sparkling with emotion. The lively dances and ensemble performances create a warm and vibrant atmosphere, with applause and laughter filling the air. Many seniors have expressed that such performances make them feel the care of society and the vitality of the younger generation.

The nursing home staff repeatedly thanked TCCS for organizing such a performance, saying, “Every performance brings the elderly a wonderful day.” TCCS has always been committed to promoting intergenerational exchange and cultural heritage. This Family Day series of performances not only brought spiritual comfort to the elderly but also taught young volunteers how to convey warmth and respect through action.

Though the festival is short, the feelings are lasting. TCCS will continue to use music and love to connect every bit of warmth in the community, so that care is not limited to festivals but becomes a part of everyday life.
Here, the editor would like to add a side note: volunteer activities not only do not affect children’s studies but also motivate them to do better.

We also congratulate two students in our volunteer team for their excellent achievements.

Eric Lu won first place in the Sea To Sky Piano Competition with a score of 98! Eric will be invited to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City!

Wu Shuang, an outstanding Chinese-Canadian singer from Vancouver, Canada, received the highest score in her group and won the first-place gold award.
