The 16th Port Moody Rotary Ribbest, which lasted for three days, was grandly held this month. It is one of the most popular summer family festival events in the area, attracting tens of thousands of people to enjoy food, music, and community interaction. This year, TCCS Sanlian Chinese Federation was invited for the first time to participate in this large-scale community event and set up an interactive booth with Chinese culture as the theme in the Family Zone.

TCCS has specially launched a traditional fun activity – pitching a pot game, allowing the public to experience ancient Chinese etiquette and culture while enjoying the fun challenges of throwing. The on-site decoration incorporates Chinese elements such as red lanterns, Chinese knots, traditional Chinese paintings, and clay sculptures of famous characters, attracting many families to stop and participate, especially loved by children and teenagers. Many Western families have also experienced the charm of Chinese games under the guidance of volunteers, frequently stating that they are “novel and interesting”

This is TCCS’s first time entering Ribbest, hoping to introduce more mainstream community residents to Chinese culture in a relaxed and interesting way, and also inject new highlights into the diverse culture of the community.
According to on-site statistics, hundreds of people participated in the pot throwing interaction within three days. The activity not only increased public interest in traditional Chinese culture, but also established a good image for TCCS in the mainstream community. The organizer Rotary Club stated that they warmly welcome TCCS to join, as the public enjoys the game of pitching pots and invites TCCS to continue participating in their events next year.

This participation marks another important step for TCCS in promoting cultural exchange and community integration. In the future, the association will continue to strive to build more bridges connecting culture and communities.
