TCCS holds public lectures on high school course selection to help students plan for the future
On November 10th, 2024, the Tri-Cities Chinese Society hosted a charity seminar at Coquitlam Public Library on the topic of academic planning in high school. The seminar was an opportunity for students and parents alike to learn more about the process of course selection in the high school years and its implication on further education and future career developments.
The event was hosted in partnership with experienced educational instructors, who provided invaluable insights on a wide range of subjects. In the seminar, they explained in detail the importance of academic planning in high school, emphasizing the role course selection plays in post-secondary education and career opportunities, and provided recommendations to students with different interests and aspirations. By analysing which course best fits the requirement of certain university programs and career areas, students are able to strategize their learning in high school in a way that is efficient and prioritizes what is necessary.
During the Q&A period, the speaker was able to engage with the audience and give feedback to individuals on their personal circumstances. They addressed a myriad of inquiries, ranging from the credit requirement for university application, the advantages of taking courses in advance, how to balance the responsibility of school with that of extracurriculars and many more.
The successful organization of the seminar outlines the Tri-Cities Chinese Society’s commitment to supporting the education of youths within the community. TCCS will continue to provide accessible educational resources and seminars with the aim of gearing students with the necessary skills and knowledge in their future endeavors.
