Meet the Federal MP Candidates

With the federal election approaching, TCCS is organizing a Meet the Candidates event – get involved and vote for yourself, your family and your future!

On the afternoon of April 19th, 2025, a meet-and-greet with the candidates, hosted by TCCS, was successfully held at the Coquitlam Centre Library. This event is especially for the Chinese community, aiming to provide a platform for residents to learn more about the candidates’ political views, and to promote community participation and democratic awareness.

The election covers two constituencies, Coquitlam-Port Coquitlam and Coquitlam-Port Moody, with a total of six candidates from the Conservative, Liberal and NDP parties. Candidates shared their positions and policy ideas on issues such as economic development, housing crisis, health care, immigration policy and social security, and responded to questions from the community in a lively and rational atmosphere.

Conservative Candidates; Paul Lambert; Iain Black

NDP Candidates: Laura Dupont ; Bonita Zarrillo

Liberal Candidates; Ron Mckinnon, MP ; Zoe Royer

To expand its impact, the event was simultaneously live-streamed, attracting many residents who were unable to attend the event to watch it online, further extending the space for public discussion and demonstrating TCCS’s emphasis on information transparency and public participation.

It was a civic education full of meaning and a demonstration of community cohesion.

TCCS hopes that through this platform, more Chinese people can get closer to politics, learn about political parties, recognize candidates, speak out for their rights and interests, and participate in public affairs for the future of the next generation.
