Thank you to the Fraser Northwest Division of Family Practice and MLA Jodie Wickens for the invitation to attend a Primary Care roundtable hosted by the Fraser Northwest Division. The meeting brought together leaders from all three levels of government, along with community leaders from across the Tri-Cities, to engage in meaningful discussions on how we can work collaboratively to support and strengthen primary care in our region.
Participants shared valuable ideas, experiences, and insights, resulting in a constructive and practical conversation. The discussion highlighted the importance of community collaboration and offered new perspectives on how we can work together to address challenges, improve health service outcomes, and enhance the overall well-being of our community.
We sincerely hope that this dialogue will lead to concrete actions and contribute to timely and meaningful improvements in access to care for residents who continue to face challenges in seeing a primary care provider.
🏥 Don’t have a family doctor in BC yet? A new registration method is here (Fraser Northwest area)
Currently, the family doctor registration system in the Fraser Northwest region has been integrated into the provincial waitlist.
Residents can register through the Fraser Northwest Health Connect Registry (HCR) and wait to be matched with a Family Doctor or Nurse Practitioner.
✅ How to register for the family doctor waitlist
You can choose one of the following methods:
🔹 Online registration (recommended)
After registering, your name will be added to the local family doctor waitlist.
When a doctor or nurse practitioner has an available spot, you will be contacted in order of the waitlist.
👉 The online registration portal is usually provided by Fraser Health / Health Connect Registry.
🔹 Register by phone (multilingual support)
If you:
- Don’t have internet access
- Need translation services (150+ languages supported)
📞 Call HealthLink BC: 8-1-1
For people with hearing impairments:
- Dial 7-1-1
- You can also use Video Relay Service (VRS) or TTY teletype services
📝 What you need to prepare when registering
During registration, you will need to provide:
- 📍 A BC address (including postal code)
- 🆔 Personal Health Number (PHN)
📌 You can also register:
- Your family members
- Someone you are caring for
⏳ What happens after you register?
- You will stay on the waitlist until you are matched with a doctor.
- When your position gets closer to the top of the list:
The Fraser Northwest Attachment Hub will contact you in advance.
When a doctor or nurse practitioner confirms they are accepting new patients:
- They will reach out using the contact information you provided.
